New York New York

We have returned after 48 mad hours in NY, we were on the go the whole time and it was fun. Dare I say we were typical tourists and booked onto an open top bus tour, and learnt several things about NY that we never knew, even hubby who was a native New Yorker for awhile, learnt a few interesting facts ! That NY vibe is still intact, the people are so great in their attitude, even down to this couple having a full blown fight in the salon where I was getting a manicure, there were mobile phones flying..these people had no shame, it was a most entertaining visit to the manicurist !!

Now I know my photo has the twin towers in it, but part of NY to me is the twin towers, the skyline is so strange without them, saw ground zero, it is still a sad place..

We made it to Madison Square Gardens for the game, I am sad to report no foam fingers were purchased but instead hotdogs and beer were consumed in true US style.. The Knicks beat the Celtics in this pre season match, we were up in the top section but the arena was not filled up, there were loads of seats courtside, and I was up for sneaking into those seats once the game had started, but the rest of my party were not in an adventurous spirit.. I wanted to see what it was like to sit up close to those giants of the court, I have never seen an almost 7 foot person up close, as well as sitting in a 500 dollar seat.. both would have been new experiences for me !! but never mind, lots of shopping to be had and generally a fab trip all round, but super pooped now..

Sunday night football.. and Mon night and Tues night !

Guess what is on the TV tonight ??? Yes as my blog title suggests .. Football... now this is not even regular premier league football, this is called Legends football, so they have wheeled out ex- football stars who have retired, and now they are playing charity matches, so Yes you have guessed correctly my husband is now hooked on watching this football as he wants to get an insight on football stars who were playing before his arrival in the UK - I just give up .. Football rules in this house no matter what type of football it is !! It is driving me nuts ...

Had a nice weekend went up to Birmingham for a family 40th birthday celebration, 340 mile round trip with only 4 hours sleep, so feel kinda pooped, but it was nice..

We booked tickets for the Knicks versus Celtics at aMadison Square Gardens, feel kinda excited
as it wil be the first live basketball game I will have seen, (although I wish my team the Heat were playing ) I have once again pledged to get into the atmosphere whole heartedly with my giant foam finger, but husband has vetoed this, as it is deemed 'uncool' in his estimation, I remember we went to see a baseball game with my brother in law in San Fran a couple years ago and there too I was banned from purchasing a foam finger ...

Hubby is still trying to learn English expressions even though he has been here in England for so long now, he asked me to explain today what "Handbags at dawn" means, I forget sometimes that in the UK we have words/phrases that are lost on people from outside the UK, like the other day he asked me to explain what a 'boffin' is .. sometimes it is hard to give definitions to jargon, but I managed to explain it in the end as an 'intelligent geek' he seemed to get the gist !!
Have a good week y'all
